The Great Vigil of Easter is the first celebration of the Resurrection — the crown and summit of the Christian year.
Beginning in darkness, we kindle the new fire and light the Paschal Candle, proclaiming the light of Christ that no darkness can overcome. Through Scripture and sacred song, we rehearse the mighty acts of God in salvation history — from creation, through the Red Sea, to the promise of a new heart — until at last we proclaim with joy: Alleluia. Christ is risen.
This ancient liturgy includes:
The Service of Light
The Exsultet (Easter Proclamation)
The Liturgy of the Word
Renewal of Baptismal Vows
The First Eucharist of Easter
It is a movement from waiting to wonder, from silence to song, from the tomb to triumph.
All baptized Christians are invited to receive Holy Eucharist.
Following the Vigil, we will gather for a parish feast — a joyful time of food, fellowship, and shared gladness as we continue the celebration of the Resurrection together.
Bring a dish to share if you are able, but most of all bring your joy.
Come and keep the feast.
Alleluia.
